Delhi’s political landscape has once again found itself in the eye of a storm—this time over what is being called the “Sheesh Mahal 2” controversy. What began as a routine shift to a new residence has quickly spiralled into a high-voltage political clash, layered with allegations, counterclaims, and a digital twist.
At the centre of the debate is Arvind Kejriwal, who recently moved into a government residence in Lodhi Estate. Almost instantly, visuals surfaced online, purportedly showcasing a lavish, opulent interior—fueling accusations from the Bharatiya Janata Party that public money was being misused for luxury living.
“Today, BJP minister Parvesh Verma invited the media to showcase images of what he claimed was Arvind Kejriwal’s new residence. Ironically, those pictures weren’t from Kejriwal ji’s house at all—they were reportedly lifted from Pinterest,” Atishi said in a post.
The Aam Aadmi Party hit back sharply, dismissing the images as misleading and fabricated.
Atishi didn’t stop there—she also offered a pointed suggestion to Verma. In a sharp dig, the AAP leader remarked that he could have used artificial intelligence instead, adding, “Parvesh Verma ji, you could’ve used AI for this—at least then the fabrication wouldn’t have been exposed so quickly.”
Earlier, AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh had warned Verma of possible defamation action, accusing him of circulating “completely fake” images of Kejriwal’s residence. He also issued a public challenge, urging Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the Delhi Lieutenant Governor, and Parvesh Verma to open their homes for public scrutiny.
Party leaders claimed that the widely circulated pictures were not even from the residence in question, alleging they were lifted from platforms like Pinterest—turning the controversy into a debate about misinformation in the digital age.
Adding further intrigue to the situation was the timing. The row erupted just as Raghav Chadha—once a close aide of Kejriwal—made a dramatic political shift, intensifying scrutiny on the AAP leadership. His criticism, referencing the “Sheesh Mahal 2” issue, added fuel to an already raging fire.
