On Saturday, Afghanistan’s Defense Ministry announced that Taliban forces had targeted several locations within Pakistan in response to last week’s deadly airstrikes.
Last Tuesday, Pakistan initiated an operation aimed at dismantling a training facility and eliminating insurgents in Afghanistan’s eastern Paktika province. The strikes resulted in the deaths of dozens of individuals, primarily women and children.
On Saturday, the Taliban Defense Ministry stated on X that its forces had targeted locations in Pakistan that “served as centers and hideouts for malicious elements and their supporters who organized and coordinated attacks in Afghanistan.”
The ministry did not provide details on whether there were any casualties or how the strikes were conducted.
Pakistani officials have accused the Taliban of insufficient efforts to curb cross-border militant activity, a claim denied by the Taliban government, which asserts it does not permit anyone to launch attacks against any country from its territory. No representatives from Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry were immediately available to comment on the retaliation.
