Putin suggested that Russia might deploy Oreshnik missile, which can carry multiple warheads, comparing their power to that of a nuclear attack.

In a recent statement, Vladimir Putin commended U.S. President-elect Donald Trump as an “intelligent politician” who will ultimately “find a solution” to end the war, though he expressed concerns about Trump’s safety after several assassination attempts.

The Russian President simultaneously issued a threat to launch devastating Oreshnik missile on Kyiv. At a press conference in Kazakhstan, he disclosed that these intermediate-range weapons, recently used against the city of Dnipro, are nearly impossible for any air defense system to intercept.

Putin Commends Donald Trump but Expresses Worry for His Safety

During a discussion with reporters in Kazakhstan, Putin mentioned the dangers faced by Trump, including an incident in Pennsylvania in July during a Republican campaign rally in Butler. There, Trump was injured when a bullet grazed his ear, leading to heavy bleeding—a moment caught on camera. Another event took place in September at Trump’s Mar-A-Lago golf club estate in Florida, where a man was arrested for allegedly positioning himself with a rifle on one of the golf courses.

Putin labeled the attacks as “uncivilized” and expressed surprise at the intense criticism Trump and his family endured during the election. He cautioned that, despite Trump’s intelligence, he remains at risk, urging him to stay vigilant.

“The newly elected president is, as far as I can tell, an intelligent and already quite experienced individual. I believe he will find a solution,” the Russian leader stated. Referencing the “absolutely uncivilized methods used against Trump, including multiple assassination attempts,” he added, “In my view, he is not safe even now.”

Putin speculated that the U.S. could be heightening tensions with Russia, pointing to the Biden administration’s recent decision to bolster Ukraine. He suggested this might either be a tactic to give Trump something to reverse if he comes back to office or an effort to complicate his ties with Russia. He emphasized that Moscow remains open to dialogue. Meanwhile, Trump has vowed to end the war within 24 hours of taking office, although his specific plans for achieving this remain unspecified.

Putin Threatens Kyiv with Oreshnik Missiles

According to CNN, Putin has cautioned that Russia might launch additional strikes using its new medium-range ballistic missiles, which were deployed in last week’s attack on Ukraine’s Dnipro region. The Oreshnik missile can carry multiple warheads and is capable of holding a nuclear payload.

“We will use the means at our disposal,” he stated. “We do not rule out the use of Oreshnik against the [Ukrainian] military, military industrial facilities, or decision-making centers, including in Kyiv, considering the Kyiv authorities continue their attempts to strike our vital facilities.”

Putin described Russia’s Oreshnik missile as having “comparable strength to a nuclear strike” if used repeatedly on the same target, although he clarified that it is not currently equipped with nuclear warheads. This warning comes after the US, UK, and France decided to supply Ukraine with long-range missiles, which Putin interprets as a response to Russia’s military actions.
