“Killed For Rs 20,000, ISI Behind It”: Punjab Police on the Deaths of Two Officers

Assistant sub-inspector Gurnam Singh and house guard Ashok Kumar were assigned to the Dorangla punjab police outpost in Adhian village of Gurdaspur, approximately two kilometers from the international border. On Sunday, their bodies were discovered inside the checkpost.

Chandigarh:
According to a senior police official on Wednesday, Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) killed the two police officers in Gurdaspur, Punjab, close to the border between India and Pakistan.

Assistant sub-inspector Gurnam Singh and house guard Ashok Kumar were assigned to the Dorangla police outpost in Adhian village of Gurdaspur, approximately two kilometers from the international border. On Sunday, their bodies were discovered inside the checkpost.

“The ISI in Pakistan ordered the accused to carry out the attack on the cops. Before attacking and murdering the police officers, they did a reconnaissance because they were local inhabitants. “They followed the ISI’s orders and did everything for money,” Sandeep Goyal, the Deputy Inspector General of Police (Border Range), told reporters in Gurdaspur.

According to the top police officer, the murder was carried out for Rs 20,000.

According to the officer, police have detained one of the three individuals suspected of killing two police officers and killed another in a confrontation.

The officer also stated that a search is on for the third accused, who is currently at large.

The three were identified by the Punjab Police as Dilawar Singh (19), a resident of Alinangal village, Ranjit Singh (19), and Inderjit Singh (21), both of whom lived in Adhian village.

The killings were discovered when Kamaljeet Singh, the sarpanch of Adhian village, went to the checkpost after learning from the Dorangla SHO that neither of the officers was returning their calls. The ASI and the home guard were both dead from gunshot wounds when the sarpanch arrived at the checkpoint.

The house guard was found dead on a cot, according to the police, while the ASI’s body was discovered on a chair with his hands in his pockets.

Terrorists from Pakistan regularly attack the Dorangla sector in order to push drones that are carrying weapons, ammo, and drugs. An IED explosion along the border injured a BSF soldier in April 2025.

A gangster from Pakistan shared a fictitious video of an unidentified gunman shooting at one of the officers at close range on social media the day after the murders. An organization identifying itself as Tehreek-e-Taliban Hindustan also published the same unconfirmed video, which was uploaded by mobster Shahzad Bhatti and claimed responsibility for the murders.

Targeted attacks on security facilities and police stations have occurred in Punjab in recent months, indicating a troubling attempt to subvert law enforcement and upset public order.
