Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has passed away at the age of 92.

Former Prime Minister and veteran Congress leader Manmohan Singh passed away on Thursday. AIIMS sources had reported that his condition was critical, and he was being treated by a team of doctors. The reason for his hospitalization was not immediately disclosed.

Manmohan Singh, India’s only Sikh Prime Minister, entered the Rajya Sabha in 1991 shortly after being appointed as Finance Minister in June under PV Narasimha Rao’s government. He represented Assam for five terms in the Upper House before transitioning to represent Rajasthan in 2019.

In his final words in Parliament, he strongly criticized demonetization, characterizing it as a “sanctioned and lawful raid.”
