The Diwali release of Singham Again received positive feedback, though some fans missed the iconic “Aata majhi satakli” dialogue. They believe this line, an essential element of the Singham franchise, should have been included in the film.
Trade veteran Taran Adarsh expressed his disappointment, saying, “I really missed that dialogue and the moments leading up to it. The inclusion of that line would have caused an uproar in cinemas. I’m not sure why they chose not to use it. I also longed for the intense confrontational scenes. Even today, I find myself revisiting the dramatic exchanges between Ajay Devgn and Prakash Raj from the first film.”
He provided an intriguing example, noting, “Salman Khan has been using the line ‘Ek baar jo maine commitment kar di…’ from Wanted (2009) across various platforms. Some iconic lines just stick with you.”
However, he also commented, “Of course, Singham Again showcases an unprecedented level of star power. It reminded me of how Rajkumar Kohli brought together 6-7 stars for the original Jaani Dushman (1979). It was exciting just to see so many talents featured on a poster. In today’s era, Rohit Shetty has successfully accomplished this feat. I told him, ‘Securing even one or two stars is challenging, but you’ve managed to assemble a whole army!’ I only wish the writing had been sharper, the music improved, and that they had kept ‘Aata Majhi Satakli.’”
Trade analyst Atul Mohan concurred, saying, “When a character’s defining trait is missing, it affects the overall impact. They could have experimented with a different phrase. He might have said, ‘Ab meri hatt gayi hai.’ The audience would likely have appreciated it.”
Producer and film business analyst Girish Johar noted, “In Singham Again, Bajirao Singham appeared more Pan India, polished, and sophisticated, lacking the rustic Maharashtrian essence that everyone loved.”
On the other hand, film exhibitor and distributor Akshaye Rathi explained, “Every franchise needs to reinvent itself. Take Dhoom, for example—the first part had a specific setting and style, while Dhoom 3, despite being a blockbuster, seemed different from the original franchise to many. As audience preferences and moods evolve, franchises must adapt. That’s what Rohit Shetty aimed for with Singham Again. It performed well but didn’t quite meet all our expectations. Nonetheless, innovating in line with changing times is crucial, and I’m pleased that filmmakers are aware of this.”
