In a shocking case of fraud, a man posing as a “parrot astrologer” has been arrested for allegedly cheating an IT professional in Bengaluru of nearly ₹20 lakh. According to NDTV reports, the accused used superstition and emotional manipulation to gain the victim’s trust and extract large sums of money over time.
How The Fraud Took Place
Police revealed that the accused presented himself as a traditional parrot astrologer, a practice where a trained parrot is used to pick cards that supposedly predict a person’s future. Using this method, he convinced the victim that he could solve personal and financial problems through rituals and special remedies.
The IT officer, believing in the claims, started paying money for these so-called solutions. Over several interactions, the accused allegedly demanded increasing amounts, citing the need for more powerful rituals to remove “negative energies” and improve the victim’s life.
₹20 Lakh Lost In The Scam
Authorities stated that the victim ended up transferring nearly ₹20 lakh to the fraudster. The payments were made in installments, as the accused continued to assure results and keep the victim engaged with new promises.
The scam came to light when the victim realized that no positive changes were happening despite the large financial outflow. Suspicious of the repeated demands, the IT officer approached the police and filed a complaint.
Police Action And Arrest
Following the complaint, Bengaluru Police launched an investigation and tracked down the accused. He was later arrested and taken into custody.
