Fans were taken aback when Arijit announced his retirement from playback singing on January 27.
Aamir Khan, who traveled to Arijit Singh’s hometown of Murshidabad to record the title track Ek Din, seemed surprised to hear that the singer’s hiatus from playback singing is permanent in a unique behind-the-scenes film that was made public on Monday.
The video shows Arijit and Aamir sitting on the floor of the singer’s house and having a normal conversation. “You are not taking on any projects,” the actor inquires. Would you rather not sing for Hindi movies or would you prefer to take a short break?
Aamir responds in Hindi, “Aisa mat kar yaar, hum logon ka kya hoga (Don’t do this, what will happen to us?)” as soon as he hears Arijit’s statement.
In the BTS video, Arijit can also be seen recording the song, showing Aamir his home, flying kites with him, and riding his bike around town.
Later, Aamir posted a poster and expressed gratitude to Arijit for providing the voiceover for his next movie, which is supported by Aamir Khan Productions and stars Sai Pallavi and his son Junaid Khan.

Fans were taken aback when Arijit announced his retirement from playback singing on January 27. In order to convince Arijit to change his stated retirement and to personally ask him to sing in the movie, Aamir traveled to Murshidabad and spent four days there with him and his family.
Arijit, who is widely considered to be one of the most popular singers in the nation, has the kind of heartfelt voice that Aamir needed for this love tale. The soulful tune was released as a result of the two’s close collaboration on the movie’s opening music.
After a long break, Ek Din brings Aamir Khan and director Mansoor Khan back together, recreating one of Hindi cinema’s most treasured creative collaborations. They have previously worked together on movies like Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na, Akele Hum Akele Tum, Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar, and Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak.
The pair returns to the romance genre with Ek Din, with Junaid taking the lead role. The Sunil Pandey-directed movie is scheduled to hit theaters on May 1.
