Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta emphasizes that everything Indians purchase should embody ‘Indianness,’ ensuring that all the money spent remains within our country.

During the silver jubilee celebration of the Patparganj CPE Study Circle, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta stated on Sunday that leaders such as US President Donald Trump will receive an appropriate response when India becomes the world’s third-largest economy. “India is not reliant on America for our exports. The entire world is eager to engage in business with India,” Gupta remarked, seemingly addressing Trump’s announcement of a 25 percent tariff on Indian imports and an unspecified penalty for India’s purchase of Russian oil.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiatives like “vocal for local,” One District One Product, and the promotion of swadeshi items signify that all purchases made by Indians should reflect “Indianness,” Gupta stated, “ensuring that all money spent remains within our country.”
“If we all collaborate, it won’t take long for us to rise from the fourth-largest economy to the third,” she added. Gupta also highlighted the crucial role of chartered accountants (CAs), stating, “All 30,000 CAs in Delhi are my army, promoting faithful tax payment. Whenever there’s a GST raid, the first call is made to a CA. They play a key role in ensuring tax compliance.” Gupta also unveiled plans for a new scheme to make settling old tax dues easier for citizens.
She highlighted that this would be a one-time opportunity and emphasized the pivotal role chartered accountants would play in its implementation.
“We aim to make the tax-paying system completely faceless. People should not fear the government. We are removing the need for multiple licenses and simplifying processes,” she stated.
The chief minister compared the public’s trust in chartered accountants to that of doctors, saying, “No government campaign can match the effectiveness of a CA’s advice. People trust their CA and follow their guidance.”
Gupta also underscored the importance of ending under-the-table transactions and establishing a governance model that promotes honesty and transparency.
